y Ysgubor (The Granary) Y Ysgubor is Welsh for 'The Granary', which is the smaller of our two cottages. We think this building dates back over 100 years, although not in its current form. Originally it was a single-storey building, possibly a store for mill produce; latterly it was used as a stable, we believe. In the mid 1990s the upper floor was added, and this upper floor forms the cottage, which offers single-level accommodation. The only problem with Y Ysgubor is that our photos never seem to do it justice. We love this little house dearly - it's a super hideaway with its own patio area and bijou courtyard garden. During our house renovations we've been living in Y Ysgubor and learned to love it even more. Access to Y Ysgubor is up 15 steps from our main drive. Alternatively, there is a steep private path down from the village road. A gentle grass track, where a vehicle can be parked off-road, joins the private path about halfway down. You can't see this clearly In the main photo, unfortunately. This cottage sleeps up to four people comfortably; and we can supply a cot if required. It has gas central heating throughout, and walls that are two feet thick, so, like Y Ffwrn, even out of season it is a lovely, warm, cozy getaway. From the entrance hall you reach the large kitchen-diner with electric cooker, microwave and dishwasher as well as pots, pans, cutlery and crockery for your stay. There's also a dining table and chairs. The spacious lounge, also reached from the entrance hall, has patio doors to the garden. There is a decorative slate wall, satellite tv (family pack selection of channels), DVD/cd player, sofas, books and games. There's an electric stove which can be used to boost the heating. It's glow setting emulates a coal fire very cleverly and gives a lovely cosy feeling to the room. Both bedrooms are reached from the lounge. The huge master bedroom is equipped with a king-size bed, fitted wardrobes and breakfast table. It overlooks the courtyard garden. The smaller of the two bedrooms is equipped with 3-ft bunk beds suitable for either adults or children. The bathroom is fitted with wc, basin and corner bath with electric shower over. Outside, there is a pretty garden and patio area and a further courtyard garden with built-in barbecue.
