February 2004 floods

Nah, pull the other one....

The minor road from here to Llechryd drops down to the valley floor via a hairpin bend (which is where I parked to take this shot), then is a low-lying stretch of road to Llechryd. It's one of the first around here to get flooded. Beyond the house on the right, at a level maybe 3 or 4 feet higher, is the old 14th century Manordeifi church, about 2 miles from here. There is a coracle kept in the church, in case of flood. Although the church is apparently well above the river level - it must be a good 15 to 20 ft above - it is prone to occasional floods. The water still has a way to go before it gets into the church, but it's already into the cemetery.
